APG looks for standout new artists that are charismatic, hardworking and unique. It is preferable to work with artists who are songwriters and collaborators, but absolutely vital that they have a vision for their future and are 100% committed to music.
-
APG is always looking for new songwriters and producers who are hardworking, unique and great collaborators. For songwriters, clever lyrics, original concepts, and infectious melodies. For producers, innovative sounds that feel like what’s next. APG prefers to set trends and not chase them.
-
Many of APG’s artists write their own songs but we are always looking for great songs whether for placement or as examples of ability for potential collaboration. We look for memorable melodies, clever lyrics, and all types of sticky hooks that make songs unforgettable. Please do not submit anything that sounds too similar to previous material recorded by APG artists.
-
This is something we’re happy to do for our APG signed writers, producers, and frequent collaborators. It is not something APG is able to provide to everyone who sends in material. Our suggestion is to make sure you have a manager or collaborator that can give you this feedback and challenge you with specific critiques.
Royalties & Legal
-
Yes! Our royalty partner, Curve, offers excellent educational videos to help you understand royalties:
-
An advance is a payment given to an artist, writer, or producer upfront. It’s essentially a loan against future royalties. You’ll earn royalties as your work generates income, and the advance is recouped (paid back) from your share of these royalties before you receive additional payments.
It’s important to note that advances are typically recouped against your share of income, not the gross income (which includes APG's share).
-
If you’re an artist or writer, recoupment is the process of recovering the advance and other costs (e.g., recording, studio fees, producer advances) from your royalties. After these costs are fully recouped, you’ll start receiving additional royalty payments as outlined in your agreement.
For detailed information, consult your lawyer or manager and check out these resources:
-
You may have signed one of the following agreements with APG:
Publishing Agreement: We help administer and monetize your compositions, collect royalties, and may co-own your copyrights.
Recording Agreement: We release your recorded music, and may assist in the marketing of your artist career or tracks.
Distribution Agreement: We distribute your music to Digital Service Providers (DSPs) like Spotify and Apple Music.
If you’re unsure, consult your lawyer or manager.
-
It is a clients responsibility to review and understand their statements, and the first point of contact should be asking questions to your lawyer and/or business manager. If your team still has questions… see below
Here’s a quick breakdown of common terms you’ll see:
First off, what income is covered by this statement? Please look at the year and the accounting period. Each year is broken down into two accounting periods (H1 and H2). This statement above, for example, reflects the money payable in connection with the first half (H1) of 2022. So if we received money from your streams that occurred in August 2022, they would NOT be included in this statement.
Opening: The balance carried over from the last statement.
Payments: Any money you’ve been paid or advanced to you during the statement period.
Income: Revenue generated by your music during the 6-month period. Please note this is only income from the 6-month period outlined above. Royalties are not paid immediately by DSPs like Spotify, Apple and YouTube… it can take anywhere from a couple of months to a couple of years for your income to get received by APG, who then must process your royalties.
Costs: Expenses (like marketing, recording, etc.) charged against your account.
Transactions: These are “Advances” which are fully recoupable from your share if you have a Profit Split or a Standard Recording Agreement, which may include studio costs, in-pocket money you received, advances/fees paid to side artists and producers who featured on your tracks, and certain independent marketing costs as outlined in your agreement.
Balance: What remains after payments, income, and costs are accounted for.

1. Publishing:
Ensure your email is updated in APG’s publishing portal (e.g., Kobalt Portal). Statements are sent twice a year (60 days after December 31 or June 30). If you haven’t received one, contact your manager or lawyer to verify your details.
2. Records: Make sure you’re set up in Curve, APG’s royalty portal (Curve Portal). Record statements are issued 90 days after December 31 or June 30. Note: If you’re not fully recouped, statements may not be issued unless requested. Email Royalties@artistpg.com to request one.
-
This indicates you won’t be paid until the project (album/mixtape) your track is on has earned enough to cover all costs, or until the artist’s account is recouped. Speak with your lawyer or manager for details.
-
After signing your agreement, APG processes it internally. Once fully executed, you must provide:
