We are looking for an established A&R with a passion for Top 40 Pop, Global Pop, Dance Pop, and can A&R songs, guide songwriters, producers & artists. This role is NOT for A&R Research, new artist discovery, or viral chart chasing.
TITLE: Director, Pop A&R
REPORTS TO: President, A&R
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
What kind of person are you?
Passion for pop music, global pop music, and crossover dance.
Interested in spending a lot of time in the studio with songwriters including at night and on weekends.
Very knowledgeable about credits (current and past hits) and what is popular across the world.
Very familiar with the functions of writers, producers, and knowledge of each writers’ personal strengths.
Great at time management and calm under pressure.
Responsibilities
Working with songwriters, producers, & artists to get the best repertoire for the label roster.
Build a network of collaborators and find great songs, tracks, and loops.
Set up co-writes to elevate our client’s career.
Keep track of all songs on your roster & drive constant communication with managers.
Negotiate splits, clearances, and agreements in coordination with artist reps.
Coordinate remixes for different parts of the world (with knowledge of the difference between sounds in different regions).
Beneficial Experience
Experience A&R’ing songs that have been released.
10,000 hours in the studio or developing songs with writers and producers.
Relationships with managers of songwriters, producers, and their publishing company representatives.
Education
College degree preferred.
Ability to use either Ableton, Protools, logic, or FL Studio preferred.
